The CensusAtSchool team spent a very busy three days in Cardiff on the WJEC stand promoting the 2011 Census, getting school pupils and their teachers to make the Origami polo shirt and showing the benefits of taking part in the 2011 CensusAtSchool project.
Over 600 pupils and many adults took part and made the polo shirt, each receiving a prize of a 2011 Census coffee mug. Pupils who took part were also asked 'What is a census?’ Some wonderful and inventive (incorrect) answers were given, but many answered correctly 'a count of all people and households in the country'. However, many were surprised to discover that the census month next year is March.
